The Making of a Native American Style Flute.

This is a 2 DVD set (as above) which is aimed at the total beginner in the world of Native American Flute making. This set runs for approximately 2 3/4 hrs and as such has been "Chaptered" for your convenience, so you can watch 1, 2 or more sections at a time and go back to the next chapter when and if you need. It is a "Full-on" instructional DVD, taking the beginner from timber (Lumber) selection right through the ripping, boring, gluing, cutting of all sound and finger holes, rounding over, fetish making, finishing off and a few sections on routing safety and jig devised for flute making, how your flute works, different ways of cutting sound holes, making fetishes and trimming of flute. Plus all the required tools needed for the project. You are guided and shown EVERY step of the way to the finished flute, which will be in the fundamental key of F#.

This is a no suit and tie affair with a well rehearsed script, there is no need for that, you will see Myself and my goodflute making comrade Willie, as we would be when going into our workshops to make a flute (Daggy clothes and the like) We do not go by a script, we know what we are doing so we tell it like it is. There are a few tongue tied moments, a few little funny bits thrown in to keep it interesting, but over and above that, you will, providing you follow what you are shown, end up with a fully working F# Native American Style Flute, of which you will be proud I am sure. We are not out to make ourselves rich by any means, and have made this set available at a price anyone can afford, and we consider, and so do the countless people who have bought this set consider, this instructional DVD to be great value for money.

Play and the Music will come !

This DVD compliments the above DVD, and shows the absolute beginner the basic fundamentals of playing the flute. It shows how to play the scales on your flute, how to play and add embellishments. It then shows you myself playing an impromptu piece on the flute using just the basic scales with some of the explained embellishments thrown in, to give the beginner and idea as to how easy it is to play this truly beautiful and unique instrument, without the need for fancy cross fingerings. These will come later throughout your own learning. But to create your own beautiful music, what I will show you will be all that you need to get you on your way.

The DVD also contains a segment on the "Lakota Flute Legend" the story of how the Lakota People came about possessing their first flute. It also has a segment using a cut-away flute which shows you exactly how your unique flute works and how to adjust the Bird/Fetish and Spacer Plate (should your flute have one of these that is)

The total running time for this DVD is 77 minutes.

Again, as with all the DVDs you see here, the price makes this a great value for money DVD.

How to make a Medicine Drum and Others

This DVD, like the flute making one, is a full-on instructional DVD showing you from start to finish, how to make your own Medicine Drum from a process known as "Staving". This process enables you to make circular objects from straight pieces of timber (lumber) and can be applied to any woodworking project that has to be circular. Shows everything from timber selection, tools required, cutting, clamping, shaping, cutting of and applying the rawhide, tying and tidying up to the finished item. Also how to make beaters of different types and the sound each type will produce. It also contains information on how to make drums of all shapes and sizes(as can be seen in the cover shot above) using the same "Staving" process. Shows the required jigs needed to make the wedge shaped drums (simple jigs only requiring the use of scrap pieces of timber) The DVD also gives a description on different "Heading" techniques (in other words, how to attach skins in different ways).

This is also a 2 DVD set, again "Chaptered" for your convenience, and has a total running time of 3 hours.

*All of the above DVDs are in PAL format, are Region Free and have been produced on DVD-R Discs.*

I have been emailed numerous times, mainly by people from America in regards to the PAL Format. To answer any and all questions here, so all can understand. There are basically only 2 Video Formats throughout the world, these being NTSC which is what the Americans use, and PAL, which is what we use here in Australia, plus it is the standard in the likes of New Zealand and Britain to mention but 2. The DVDs I am selling are also region free, which means they will play in any zone throughout the world. They are produced on DVD-R Discs which are your normal blank DVDs you would use when burning from your computer or using in a DVD Recorder.

Most modern day TVs, DVD Players, and Computers will play both video formats (NTSC and PAL) and will also play the likes of DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, RAM and all formats of CD. I have sold countless DVDs to America, some to Germany, Britain, NZ, Africa to name a few, and as yet, I have not had one complaint that these DVDs have not or will not play in these countries.

But with that said, if it is your intention to place an order for any of the above DVDs, then it will become your responsibility beforehand to ensure that you thoroughly check your DVD players, TVs etc to ensure compatibility. Once you place an order, it will be understood that you have done this, and I will therefore not be responsible or liable in any way for non-compliance.
