Flutes for Sale
All these flutes have been crafted in my style of flute
making. Not wanting to cause disputes between myself and other flute makers I won't go into details as to
how I craft native american style flutes. As stated, we are all individuals who after our learning,
should develop our own ways so as to not do things the same as Joe Bloggs down the road, we create our own
styles. I do however, tune these flutes using a digital tuner, to ensure that they are tuned in
accordance with modern musical standards. I also craft each flute to the best of my abilities and respect the
materials Mother Nature has given me to use, to create these truly beautiful and unique instruments. I have
been crafting flutes for near on 9 years now, and out of the hundreds of flutes I have sold or gifted,
not one has been returned with a complaint.
Each picture will have the flute's details along with it,
and should you wish to hear the scale of a flute, you will find the sound samples below. If it is a 6 hole,
Pentatonic mode 1/4, you will hear the scale for that flute firstly in mode 1 then in mode 4. If it is a
5 hole flute you will hear the standard mode 1 scale, and if it is a Native Tuned flute, 5 or 6 hole, you
will hear the single scale for it. More on the slight difference between Pentatonic and Native tuned
flutes below.
Each flute has its selling price, but I am also open to
bartering. If you like the look /sound of a flute or flutes and you think you may have something of
equivalent value to offer me, then please email me with your offer and we can take it from there.
Please also note, should you wish to barter and I accept your offer, once I receive your item/s in
exchange, then and only then will I send the flute/s to you, so please take this into consideration
before emailing me.
Items I am keen on bartering for are
any Harmonic instruments such as Tibetan Singing Bowls, Bells and Tingsha's (cymbals),
Harmonic Chimes.
Payment details are also given below.

This is a Mid Range F# 5 hole Pentatonic tuned flute. It has a 7/8'' bore and uses a spacer plate for the flue. The body of the flute is made from a branch from my neighbour's tree. It fell off the tree into my garden, so I kept it until it was dry and made this flute from it. It is from the Australian Native Jacaranda Tree. The branch was not quite thick enough, so I have inserted a Red Cedar strip through the centre to enable me to get a 7/8" bore. It is a dense timber with a beautiful green tinged figuring and a nice close grain. The fetish is of course a Dolphin, this is made from King William Pine. The fetish was taken from a flute I made for myself years ago, specifically to be used on this flute.

At present, there are only 2 flutes in this collection that
have been tuned to what is known as Native Tunings. the differences in finger hole notes are given below. A native
tuned flute is tuned to a Minor Pentatonic scale and does not have 2 modes of playing as does a 6 hole,
pentatonic mode 1/4 flute. They also are not tuned in one octave as a mode 1/4 is. They end in the next
note above the fundamental note. i.e. If you have a pentatonic mode 1/4 with a fundamental of F#,
the last hole nearest the mouth end, regardless of what mode you play in, will always end up being
one octave above the fundamental, which in this case will be F#. For a Native tuned flute with a
fundamental of E, the last hole will be an F.
The 2 on offer here are tuned as follows, starting with the
fundamental note, then each successive finger hole:
Low E tuned to: E,
G, A, B, C#, D#, F
A mode 1/4 flute will be tuned as follows:
Low E tuned to: E, G, A,
B, C, D, E
High G# tuned to: G#, B,
C#, D#, F, G, Bb (A#)
A mode 1/4 flute will be tuned as follows:
High G# tuned to: G#, B,
C#, D#, E, F#, G#
