This is the first flute I ever made. Native tuning, 6 hole, F#

These are the next 2 flutes I made. Both Native Tunings. Both 6 holes, mahogany and tuned to Eb

This is the first ever Drone Flute I attempted. Turned out quite well, but could be better. Silky Oak, 5 Hole and F#

These are just 3 of the numerous bamboo flutes I have made, these where my first attempts.

The first high pitched flutes I ever made. They are in the keys of A, C and D. Front flute is Poplar, second is Robinia and the third is Camphor Laurel. All are 5 Hole.

These are 2 trial flutes I made, the little one at the front is for children's hands and fingers and is in the key of F#. The one at the rear is a 5 hole F.

This flute I made for Mary Youngblood. It is a 6 hole E and has been made from numerous Australian Timbers. This was made in my early days of flute making, and whilst Mary loved the flute, it was not up to her concert standards, which I didn't expect it to be, not someone of her calibre of playing.

This is a 5 hole F# flute made with Yellow Cedar and then stained. I did my first ever realistic type carving for this flute and as you can see, it is of a dolphin jumping out of the water.

This is a 6 hole G, made from Poplar with a symbolic Bear fetish.

This is my Eagle Flute, a 5 hole F# made from Red Cedar and Fiddleback Red Gum. Adorned with Eagle Feathers.

This is the Eagle's Skull on the foot of my Eagle Flute. It is from a real Wedge Tailed Eagle which had died of natural causes in the outback of South Australia. I am licensed to possess and use anything from the carcass of this Eagle.

This is a 6 Hole F flute, made from ?? I've forgotten, but it has a Rock Maple Finger Hole Board. It also has a fetish made from Bone with a Turquoise inlay.

This is a 6 hole, low C# made from Camphor Laurel, with a symbolic Bear fetish.

This is a 6 hole F# made from Red Cedar with a fetish depicting the "End of the Trail" symbol.

This is a 6 hole low D made from Camphor Laurel with a kangaroo fetish.

This is another attempt at drone making, this one turned out really well and was snaffled up by a customer quick smart. It is in the key of A.

This is something I wanted to try with a different fetish. It is a 6 hole F# made from Camphor Laurel with a Camphor Laurel fetish which is made from one block of timber and almost completely surrounds the flute. It works unusually well.

Another 6 hole F#, made from fiddleback Red Gum with a Maple wolf fetish.

This is a 5 hole F# in Red Cedar made with an as per customer requested Butterfly Fetish.

This is the Butterfly fetsih (of Course !!) Its colour is natural and is made from Osage Orange with the detail markings burnt in.

Just a mixed bag of some of my collection, some are finished others waiting to be.

This is another flute I wanted to try and make. I saw this in a museum photograph. I have made it an F# and it is made from Cooktown Ironwood.

The long flute at the rear is one of Willie's Walking Stck Flutes.

This is my number 1 Flute, a 6 hole Red Cedar Eb Flute with a Loon Fetish. I just love the qualities of this flute, it really does sing to me.

Just for something different, one of the Medicine Drums I have made over the years, it was a personal drum, but I got an offer I couldn't refuse, so it now belongs to a customer.

First made

This is the first flute I ever made. Native tuning, 6 hole, F#

Email me and I will ask for specific body measurements to be sent to me, this is how the "Traditional" Native American Flutes where made. This is why no 2 old style flutes looked/sounded the same, because they where made to the makers specific body measurements and tuned accordingly to their tastes once everything was laid out. Your flute will be crafted in this manner, and whatever the Fundamental note ends up being, I will tune the finger holes in accordance with it to ensure that your flute will still play one full octave from Fundamental to the last finger hole.

See Pix below of the new flute I have just made in the Traditional manner using my own body measurements. This flute is made to suit me and me only so is definitely Not For Sale. I have created it in the old style and have antiqued it to give it the look of old age. Must say, it plays absolutely beautifully too.
